LIfe in the Slow Lane (and How to Speed it Up)

Many of us Denning Denizens live on dial up. Here are a couple of tips on how to manage the internet on a dial up connection:

turn off all graphics on your browser if you can
use the HTML or classic option of Yahoo Mail or Google Mail
don’t download any attachments unless they are text
use the AP news feed to get news, called My Way news (there are no ads or pictures and it loads quickly in seconds)
use Weather Bug to get the weather for the day, or 7 days
when searching, try adding “html” after your search term, for example, “cornell when to plant tomatoes html” sent me to the great cornell gardening website
use wikipedia and no graphic information sources as much as possible
