The Denning Denizen

It's Our Town!

A Community Blog

We don’t accomplish anything in this world alone … and whatever happens is the result of the whole tapestry of one’s life and all the weavings of individual threads from one to another that creates something. — Sandra Day O’Connor

Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing. — Rollo May

I’m happy to announce that The Denning Denizen is now a community blog. When it was first started in response to the politically charged events occurring at the time, I had hoped that it would eventually serve to inform our community of the issues surrounding our town governance, help keep our elected officials in check, and offer a way for many of us to participate more easily in the governing of our town. In the least, I had hoped it would facilitate discussion and the sharing of ideas and opinions across our somewhat widely dispersed community,

But any such vehicle needs to be completely open, so that everyone in the community can not only comment, but begin discussion by creating posts of their own. I won’t bore you with the technical details, but to allow more than one person to post on the DD, the entire site had to be moved to a different platform. That’s done and now everyone in our wonderfully diverse community can now post items about whatever subject matter they wish.

I have spoken to a few people about contributing in various ways - posting local newsworthy items, starting a gardening or nature column, announcing local events and happenings, writing on the history of our town, writing book reviews, sharing local photography, videos, or audio recordings, or posting writings of all sorts. In turns out our community is also quite diverse in its interests and talents.

So, calling all you writers, artists, historians, musicians, craftspeople, gardeners, cooks, bakers, poets, naturalists, adventurists - all enthusiasts of any stripe - please share your writings, thoughts, events, photos, adventures, videos, happenings, recordings, recipes, tips, techniques, stories, know-how, hikes, good reads…

And, of course, please share your opinions - by creating your own posts or by commenting on those of others on how the town is governed, on how we can make Denning an even better place to live, and on The Denning Denizen itself.

Contribute your own posts by clicking the ‘Submit’ menu item up there in the menu bar.

And if you are interested in becoming a regular contributor - great! I’d like to set you up with your own account with a byline (like Ed Mues’, or fantasy echo’s).  Please email me at denningdenizen@gmail.com.
